Volumetric Die Cutter for the preparation of samples for MD Rheometer, OD Rheometer and Mooney Viscometer
Standards the instrument complies with: ASTM D1646; ASTM D2084; ASTM D5289; ISO 289-1; ISO 289-2; ISO 289-4; ISO 6502-1; ISO 6502-2; ISO 6502-3;
Overview Pneumatic cutter for the preparation of constant-volume samples for MD Rheometer, OD Rheometer and Mooney Viscometer from polymer or green rubber compounds.
The solid construction of the machine and the double-piston system permit to obtain constant volume samples even with hard and high viscosity compounds.
By using samples with constant volume for your rheology tests you will increase test repeatability ensuring correct filling of test chamber.
Key Features • Exclusive adjustment system, which permits to set the machine to obtain samples for:
- Moving Die Rheometer
- Oscillating Disk Rheometer
- Mooney Viscometer
• Puncher for obtaining the central hole in the lower sample for the Mooney viscosity test
• Pneumatically-activated safety panel
• CE Labelling
Select the Type of Sample The selector, located on the back of the instrument, allows you to select the type of specimen to be produced.
Sample Volume for MD Rheometer According to ASTM D 5289: "The test specimen is considered to be of proper size when a small bead of rubber compound is extruded uniformly around the periphery of the dies as they are closed(116 to 160% of the test cavity volume).
For an instrument with a test cavity volume of 3.44 cm3, this is achieved when the test specimen volume is between 4.0 and 5.5 cm3.
Undersized test specimens can cause low cavity pressure and low torque readings. Oversized test specimens cool the dies excessively during the early part of the test period, affecting the vulcanization characteristics."
The standard setup of Gibitre Volumetric cutter produces each sample for MD Rheometer test with 4.8 cm3 volume.
At order time you can request a custom setup to produce samples with a volume between 4 and 5.5 cm3.
Sample Volume for Mooney Viscometer According to ASTM D1646 : "The test specimen shall consist of two test pieces of the material being tested having a combined volume of 25 cm3. This volume is approximately 1.5 times the volume of the test cavity (1.45 times for small rotor, 1.67 times for large rotor) and will ensure that the cavity is completely filled."
The standard setup of Gibitre Volumetric cutter produces each sample for mooney test with 12.5 cm3.
At order time you can request a custom setup to produce samples with a volume between 12 and 13 cm3.
Puncher for Hole for Mooney Sample A puncher, incorporated in the instrument, permits the central hole to be made in the lower sample for the Mooney viscosity test.
The pneumatically-activated safety panel ensures the conformity of the instrument with CE safety requirements.
Safety devices The instrument is equipped with:
• Pneumatic activation of the safety protection screen
• Safety switch, which prevents the activation of the piston if the Safety Protection Screen is not closed.
• CE Labelling
Development and production The instrument is totally developed and produced in the plant of Gibitre Instruments in Italy.
All the mechanical parts are produced in the company workshop using modern CNC machines.
Components and sensors from well-known brands are selected in order to ensure the maximum reliability in the measures
Internal trained personnel takes care of all the production stages: assembly, start-up, calibration, packing, shipment and installation.
