Relying on reliable measuring instruments for hardness testing is essential, as this parameter is often critical for verifying product compliance. Gibitre Test Specimens are certified samples designed to verify the compliance status of your hardness testers during the period between two consecutive calibrations.
Their purpose is clear: they allow for interim checks of hardness testers used to measure material hardness, in accordance with the methods described in ISO 48-4 and ASTM D2240. This enables continuous monitoring of the instrument’s reliability between calibrations.
Each test specimen is designed with a shape that allows it to be handled without transferring heat to the measurement area. The stainless steel support ensures perfect flatness during measurement, while the protective wooden box shields the specimens from temperature fluctuations and sunlight. All test specimens are supplied with a Calibration Report traceable to the certified instrument used for the measurement.
By choosing Gibitre Test Specimens, you achieve more reliable and traceable hardness control throughout the interval between calibrations, reducing the risk of undetected deviations in the conformity of your products.

The use of certified samples permits to perform periodical verification of the conformity of the reading of your hardness testers in the period between two calibrations.
According to ISO 48-4 Standard (par. 10.2):'Instruments in regular use shall be checked at least each week against standard rubber blocks.'
Periodical verification is useful considering the importance of hardness as a testing parameter.

Gibitre test pieces
• have a shape that allows them to be manipulated and avoids transmitting the heat of the hand to the measuring zone
• Specimens are applied to a stainless steel support to ensure perfect flatness during measurement
• are supplied with a wooden protection box that protects them from sudden changes in temperature and sunlight
• are supplied with a Calibration Report referring to the certified instrument used for the measurement.

The following configurations are available:
• Complete box containing 3 specimens with approximate hardnesses of 40 - 50 - 60 - 80 - 90 Shore points.
• Box containing one sample with hardness of your choice among those available.

The samples are provided with Calibration Certificate with traceability to the hardness tester used for the measurements.

Specimens are individually identified by an identification label to ensure proper calibration traceability and avoid measurement errors.
The samples are provide with an insulated protection case that permits the protection of the samples from temperature variations and from the light.
