UL 94
Standard for Tests for Flammability of Plastic Materials for Parts in Devices and Appliances

UL 94 establishes flammability requirements for polymeric materials, elastomers, and composites used in electrical and electronic applications. The standard classifies materials into four fire-performance categories (HB, V-0, V-1, V-2) based on controlled combustion tests that measure flame resistance, self-extinguishing behavior, and burn propagation when exposed to direct flame. Applicable to plastic and rubber components, coatings, and insulation systems, it represents a critical safety requirement for ensuring fire protection in electronic devices and electrical installations worldwide.
