ISO 812 specifies the method for determining tear resistance of vulcanized rubber and elastomers. The test involves applying tensile force to notched specimens and measuring the energy required to propagate the tear until complete failure. This standard applies to natural and synthetic rubbers, thermoplastic elastomers, and elastomeric materials in general.
