ISO 289-3 establishes test methods for evaluating the plasticity and elastic recovery of natural and synthetic rubber materials. The standard measures permanent deformation and elastic rebound characteristics of elastomeric compounds subjected to controlled stress, using compression and release procedures that replicate processing conditions. Applicable to unvulcanized rubbers and semi-finished products, this test protocol is critical for assessing the rheological properties and material quality of elastomeric raw materials used throughout the rubber conversion industry.
