ASTM D1928
Standard Practice for Preparation of Compression-Molded Polyethylene Test Sheets and Test Specimens (Withdrawn 2001)

ASTM D1928 establishes the test method for determining tensile strength and elongation at break of plastic films and sheets. This standard applies to a wide range of thermoplastic materials, including polyethylene, polypropylene, and similar polymers commonly used in packaging and industrial applications. The test procedure involves applying tensile stress to a specimen until failure while recording maximum load and corresponding deformation values. By quantifying these essential mechanical properties, the standard enables manufacturers to assess material quality and suitability for demanding end-use requirements.
